Vésteinn’s friendship with Haukur started on an internet forum. They turned out to share political opinions in various fields, in addition to their interest in history, philosophy, and poetry. Together they founded The Icelandic Troll Friends’ Society and The Cannibalist Association
of Iceland and participated in pacifist anti-war demonstrations.
Vésteinn has been an active member of the Iceland-Palestine Society since forever and he had regular contacts with Haukur when Haukur was a volunteer on the West Bank in 2007. Vésteinn is thus very familiar with Haukur’s vision on the rights of oppressed nations, and other groups, to freedom and independence.
